"Under Construction"

Well, it's a good thing our "pregnancy" is longer than most, because we have a lot to do to get our home ready for our Little One.

Our plan for 2007 is to update one room in the house each month and the last room that we will update will be the nursery.

As we finish each of the rooms we'll post before and after pictures here so you can see what we've done...and how much longer it'll be before you actually see "Nursery" pictures.

Finished by the end of June??
A "working" vacation
Yet again, Uncle Steve will be paying a visit to the area to help us with another project (or two or three??), and his wife, Kimberly, who LOVES to paint has a project of her own - the nursery! Hopefully by the end of their vacation we'll have some beautiful photo's to post.

Nope...not by the end of June
We're in no rush (given the extended wait time) so the rooms just wait until Steve needs a "vacation" :)

Planning to Paint
We're planning to paint the nursery!!

We'll be painting the nursery during the week of Thanksgiving, which we both have off...and John's dad will be up visiting as well.  (so check back at the end of November for an updated picture!)

There is still some prep work that needs to be done: we'll have to putty the nail holes, sand the woodwork (a reason we should have painted right away!), and prime the woodwork.  So over the next month we'll be working to get that done so we can hopefully get the painting all done during Thanksgiving week.

Picture this:  Linnen white built-ins and trim, with a light sage green wall (with tone on tone stripes).  I can't wait to see it finished!!

What a transformation! Photo
What a transformation!
Steven did a phenominal job on this room.  If you take a look in the Nursery photo album you'll see the transformation from before to after.  Now it's up to us to PAINT...anyone interested in a painting party when the weather becomes cooler and drier??

Yeah...the Hey Diddle Diddle didn't last very long.  I'm going to sell it on EBay, hoping for a profit!  Having such a long time to wait, tastes change, which can be a problem.  We've decided to go from soft and sweet to Bold and Bright instead.  I found a picture in a baby bedroom book that I fell in love with (posted here...it's my inspiration picture for the room), it has the same exact colors as the bedding that we chose from Pottery Barn Kids.  that paired with the beautiful built ins that my uncle put into her bedroom I can't wait to see how it all comes together.  As it, slowly but surely, comes together we'll post pictures within the nursery photo album.

A Few Steps Ahead
I know I said we weren't going to worry about our Little One's room until all other rooms in the house were complete, BUT we went "price shopping" today so we can start to budget some $$ for the furniture and stuff for her room and found a GREAT DEAL!

Background:  We live in a house built in 1850, with a lot of "old" character.  That said, the bright colors that normally stimulate a childs senses don't exactly "go" with the decor.  So, needless to say I've been having a heck of a time finding something that #1) will not look out of place in our home, #2) John and I agree on and #3) doesn't break the bank.  Well, TODAY we found the BARGAIN of the CENTURY and just couldn't pass it up!

Most of the time the "themes" that we like and the crib bedding we agree upon is somewhere between $300-$500+, which is OUTRAGEOUS $$$ to spend!  We were able to find a perfect "theme" and bedding set for $50 on closeout that couldn't better fit our older home.

We introduce you to "Hey Diddle Diddle Toile"...Now we'll take the difference in cost and start up her college fund :)
