Julie belongs to several message boards that talk about China adoption, most of which have people in them whose DTC/LID dates are within a month of ours. So, we're going through the process at the same time, experiencing the same things, and have many of the same concerns. So, each of these groups have different activities which helps us all to pass the time and have fun while waiting. From Secret Buddies, to Cybershower, and Swaps of many themes, you'll see all of the fun gifts we receive here.
Plan to check-in here monthly to see how creative these gifts can be!

Special thanks to Amy, Wade and Connor Darlington, who not only sent us the cutest Pooh (and friends!) bib and stuffie, but we found out that they will also be traveling to China with us as we have the same adoption agency and the same LID :)

| October Cybershower |
| Theme: Happy Halloween! |
Thank you for Kim Morin for thinking outside the box. The bag you decorated is great and I never would have thought to send DVDs to someone...what a great gift! I look forward to sharing time watching these with our Little One during the Halloween holiday. Thank you sooo much!

 |
| September Cybershower |
| Theme: Sleep Tight |
Thank you to the Waterman's for their thoughtful cybershower gift this month. Our little one will certainly be able to snuggle the babydoll and cuddle with the blanket, all while being lulled to sleep with the book.

 |
| July Shower: Waiting for First Child from China |
| Theme: Fun in the Summertime |
What a wonderful surprise to receive our cybershower gift from Tricia Blair of the "Waiting for first child from China" group.
This time Tricia did a great job picking out things for ME...appealing to my scrapbooking interests and giving me something to do while waiting for our Little One. In the package were some great scrapbooking stickers, papers, pens (all with summer theme/colors), and you can't forget the "energy snacks" to eat while scrappin'...Jelly Belly Jelly Beans and Recees Peanut Butter Cups (both my weaknesses!!)
Tricia, Thank you very much for reading our profile and applying them to your thoughtful gifts. I really appreicate the personalization you put into it! :)

 |
| July Shower: Autumn Angels |
| Theme: At the Beach |
Now we are sooooo looking forward to the next summer we can enjoy with our Little One, especially with the CUTEST terry cover up and adorable hat we received from Jenny Jones! :) She'll be a regular beach babe, and with the sunglasses, she'll more than look the part! We'll make sure that we don't have any accidents on the beach (which is a mile down the road) with the use of the Pampers swim pants. Smart thinking Jenny!!

| Just Because: Other Gifts Received |
What an ADORABLE ADORABLE hat this is :) Cutest little thing. This is from one of Julie's adoption friend's (Cyndi in CA) mother-in-law. She whipped this up in less than a day, especially for our Little One.
It's amazing to see the thoughtfulness that people in the world have. It makes the time that seems like it's standing still, go by that much faster.
Thank you so much JoAnn!!

Check this out! Julie's friend Cyndi wanted to make sure we had a ladybug sighting everyday...so she sent Julie a couple of ladybugs for the car. The colorful one is a keychain, and the silver one is now hanging in our RED VW convertable bug from the rearview mirror (with a red ribbon of course!).
Cyndi, thank you so much for your thoughtful gestures! They really brighten our day :)

 |
Monica and Amelia, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. This is a wonderful book, and I look forward to reading it to our Little One each year on her birthday (and I have a feeling it will be a favorite so we'll be reading it more often).
|
 |
A fellow adoptive mom and dad, Cyndi and Dean James from CA, sent us this wonderful package. Many Many neat things in there for our Little One, including a beautiful hand painted ornament from jiinkin kids as well as a gift card. With that gift card I bought 2 Chinese books for our Little One. One of Chinese proverbs and another titled "Good Morning China". Thank you both so much for your generosity. One of these days we will meet...I promise!

We had an enjoyable time with our family and friends for our LIDiversary party. To that party our friend Anne brought us the book "Guess How Much I Love You." Anne, I hadn't' heard of this book until Adam was born and you read it to me when I visited one day. I'm thrilled to be able to share this story with our Little One when she comes home!

 |
| Merry Christmas Little One |
Even though she's not here, people are thinking of our Little One during the holidays. Several gifts, which I will post in succession were given to hear for Christmas this year. Thank you to everyone for your thoughtfulness during the holiday season.
This ornament is one from Cyndi James. It's a snowflake with a little asain girl on it holding a banner that says Christmas. Thanks Cyndi!

What a beautiful bear...will look perfect sitting on the window seat in her room.
|
 |
| Snuggle to Sleep |
| from Mom (Julie's mom) |
Reading is one of the best gifts you can give to a child. We'll be learning shapes while cuddling with our new soft teddy bear. Can't wait!
|
 |
| You'll look so sweet |
| From Cyndi and Nikki |
My "Secret Snowflake" from work even remembered you during the holidays this year. A wonderful cozy warm pink blanket to help keep you warm.
And Cyndi sent you a fairy teddy as well as had a hairbow made special for you (to match Alicyn's) with a ladybug on it.

| A Great Story! |
| from Mommy |
I'll probably wear out the pages in this book before she even arrives. A wonderful story of adoption with the most colorful illustrations I've ever seen.

Well, this was an enjoyable experience while it lasted, and one that I have decided not to continue with. We still did not receive any gifts from our Secret Buddy for May or June, so we have remolved ourselves from the Secret Buddy pool. Although we absolutely LOVED buying fun gifts for our Secret Buddies who live in CO (much like us!), we have decided to focus on some other activities on a few other message boards.
So, Thank you Secret Buddy, for what you've chosen for our Little One during this activity.
|
 |
We received a final gift from our Secret Buddy. The Brown family from Alabama has been sending our Little One the precious gifts all along. They sent this last gift to us revealing themselves.
Thank you to the Brown family for all of the neat gifts that we have received from you over the past several months. We look forward to having our Little One here to start enjoying the outfits and things that you have sent her.

I think I've been lost in the shuffle :( We're still active in the program but have not received a gift from our buddy yet. Hope to post a picture sometime soon!!

| March/April 2007 |
| Light Up the Night/April Showers Bring May Flowers |
Our Secret Buddy sent two months worth of surprises this month as the past month has been a busy one for their family. During their trip to Washington DC they were kind enough to be thinking of us and purchased a souvenir for our daughter, how thoughtful of them.
To celebrate the March theme, "Light Up the Night", we received a Princess lamp/nightlight for our Little One's room. And to celebrate April Showers Bringing May Flowers (which where we live it couldn't have been more true!) and Springtime we have a Cabbage Patch Kid doll for our Little One to adopt herself :)
I remember growing up and having several of these dolls, and it seems as though they're coming back into "style" with the younger children again. I had planned on purchasing one but I can now take that off our list thanks to our Secret Buddy!
Thank you for your generous gifts SB...I can't wait to see what May brings :)

 |
| February 2007 |
| Theme: Happy Hands, Head and Feet |
Our Secret Buddy strikes again!
Our Little One now has the cutest little girly socks for her feet, shampoo and headbands for her head, and baby wipes for messy hands (and face, and bottom, and whatever else is dirty!). Thanks Secret Buddy for the thoughtful gifts that will not only make her hands, head and feet happy, but a happy child all around!

 |
| January 2007 |
| Theme: Tubby Time |
I returned from a business trip late last night to come home to our secret buddy package! The non-slip mat for the tub along with a duck faucet cover, a toy bag, and our FIRST rubber duckie will sure make tubbie time with our Little One a joy!
Thanks Secret Buddy for your thoughtful gift. Your Husband did a wonderful job :)

| December 2006 |
| Theme: Bundle Up |
A BIG Thank You to our Secret Buddy!
Today we came home to our package sitting on the doorstep. We were thrilled to receive two hats (which are REVERSABLE!!) and the adorable fleecey hooded sweatshirt (with little mermaid pants to match) which will definately keep our little one warm with the frigid weather we get in our neck of the woods in the wintertime.
This is a DEFINITELY a FUN way to pass the time and we look forward to seeing what other surprises we receive in the months to come.
